A More Attractive Paradise by Neilisha Maragh As a Barn Swallow, I fly everywhere. I’ve traveled to places of adventure and despair. I thought I’d experienced it all, But things changed when I traveled this fall. I was visiting my friend Frigate but I forgot where to go. I landed on an island with much to show. Water clear enough to see fish, Fungee and Pepper pot as a National Dish. Sadly, trash was everywhere! Visitors might want to go elsewhere. How could there be so many bins? Yet locals and tourists still choose to commit such a sin. Abandoned buildings took up space. Abandoned cars ruined the scenery of this place.

Five Things That Make Me Smile by Kevinice James There are countless things that make me smile But there are a few that are oh so dear to me; Antigua and Barbuda a land with rich history Where people are hospitable and friendly Home to pristine beaches, and clear blue skies I will proudly raise my flag up high. My most precious moments, Large holes where people drive. They were all over the island, not only four or five. The dangers from potholes can be quite severe. I’m glad I’m not the one driving there. The reckless speeding was terrifying to see. They could’ve hit others or even me. This should change since visitors will tell others not to visit this place, Because it is so unsafe. The skin and bones still live in my head. Stray cats and dogs; some almost dead. The emotional pain this causes tourists, Yet little has been done since this problem persists. The vagrants on the street are an issue. Some with not even a tissue. Many releases a horrid smell. Tourists will feel they are not treating locals well.

As I left the island, I spotted another, Pink sand unlike the other. Sadly, a PLH project had caused discord. A battered public image is something this island cannot afford. The problems stated should be fixed. So, Antigua and Barbuda can be a paradise of cultures mixed. A more attractive destination is the aim. Admitting and fixing flaws should cause no shame. Attractive in looks is not all. An indecent attitude might seem small, But a welcoming personality to tourists goes far. Since various tourists just want to relax and go to a bar. Smooth travel through the island would guarantee, A full view of the island’s quality. My friend Frigate told me that many visit. Therefore, these islands’ beauty should have no limit.

More people would want to travel there, If this place was treated with more care.

Achieving my goals and doing my best! What else is more fulfilling than success? I cannot let my country and family down. So whether in school or the community,

Are those shared with my family We may argue, we may shout But our love is even more loud. Through laughter, through tears, I truly hold them dear A familial bond is worthwhile

I could create and destroy worlds, I could write a poem about a pearl Everything is up to me And this is why I love poetry. These are the reasons why I smile.

A familial bond helps me thrive. Oh sweet, sweet, juicy mango I especially love when you are round and yellow You are nature’s delectable gift A fruit that gives you a flavorful kiss Just one taste takes me to a heavenly paradise Mango you are sweet, mango you are nice.
